Writing

DOES DIRECTING CHANGE HOW YOU WRITE? IN WHAT WAY?

When you direct film and then write material for screen I see it very much like the process of painting or drawing in that you are trying to create something in the most dramatic way possible, your honing all the elements to create precision. I want to get to the essence of something, a feeling an emotion or event, without too much embellishment. The script, the language between the characters, needs to stand-alone as a good piece of writing, otherwise if it does not have qualities to capture and engage the reader and make them want more. It will not translate from the page to the screen.
